Reed are currently working in partnership with a well established and growing international trade business, with national coverage and are now looking to recruit a Junior / Trainee Customs Clerk position for their Liverpool office

Our client pride themselves on providing efficient and reliable services to our clients. As part of their expansion, they are seeking a Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk.

Role Overview:

As a Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across international borders. You will learn the intricacies of customs procedures, documentation, and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organised, and eager to develop a career in customs and logistics.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist: Support senior customs clearance officers in processing import and export declarations
  • Learn: Familiarize yourself with customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements
  • Coordinate: Collaborate with shipping agents, freight forwarders, and government agencies
  • Document: Prepare and verify customs paperwork, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin
  • Communicate: Respond to client inquiries regarding customs procedures and requirements
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in customs laws and regulations
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (additional qualifications in logistics or international trade are a plus
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Good analytical abilities
    • Effective communication skills
  • Experience: No prior experience required; training will be provided
  • Methodical Approach: Ability to work systematically and follow established processes
  • Enthusiasm: Eagerness to learn and grow within the customs clearance field
