If you are a recent criminology graduate with some experience (volunteering or some paid) of working with vulnerable clients, this could be a good career move into criminal justice.

This is a Hybrid role (2 days home / 3 office) working on a drug and alcohol service supporting ex-offenders to rehabilitate and move towards employment and training.

The office element is working at 2 projects extremely near to each other (both about a 10-minute walk from Aldgate East).  Although a fixed term contract until Mar 2025, it could well extend as the charity often has other opportunities. The main purpose is to support clients, so they have a good baseline to move towards an Employment and Training Coach. To summarise the day to elements of the role:

  • Screening potential participants for the programme (referring internally or externally if they are not suitable for this service but could be with another provider)
  • Signing posting clients to services which could help support such as housing, mental health, and debt management.
  • Prison visits typically twice a month and usually in Wandsworth, Thameside and Pentonville
  • Delivering risk assessments
  • Leading on short courses with participants to develop soft skills, delivering both in the community and in prison settings.

You must have had some experience of working with vulnerbale clients groups, either paid or voluntary (it doesnt need to be ex-offenders specifically) and a genuine interest of working within criminal justice (so a lated degree is useful).

Interviews will be face to face on Thursday 16th May.

Please note:  the home working days cannot be fixed days each week as you would need to work around the needs of the service.
