Credit Controller

  • Location: Winsford, Cheshire
  • Job Type: Full-time Permanent
  • Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum Dependant on Experience

We are seeking a Credit Controller to manage and oversee the credit control functions for our operations in the UK. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s credit and financial risk exposure are minimized while maintaining strong relationships with customers. This position reports to the Group Credit Control Manager and requires a professional with a solid background in accounting and credit control.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Review credit applications and credit references to set credit limits and ensure creditworthiness.
  • Act as the first escalation point for credit applications and references, supporting Local Credit Controllers in their discussions with (prospective) debtors.
  • Review and report on Aged Debtors.
  • Negotiate terms with third-party debt collection agencies and/or credit insurance companies.
  • Manage write-offs, bad debt provisions, and set up payment plans.
  • Prepare statements of claims for liquidators.
  • Assist the broader accounts and sales teams.
  • Review processes and procedures to reduce debtor days.
  • Be the system and contract owner for 3rd party business information providers.
  • Ensure correct recording and reporting on credit limits from ERP systems.
  • Proactively maximize usage of Group Factoring facilities.
  • Act as a liaison between the Treasury department and Group factoring companies.
  • Pursue all outstanding debts and maintain schedules and reconciliation for Debtors.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of processes within the area influenced by the jobholder.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the company’s activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Solid experience in a Credit Control role with the understanding of Accounts..
  • Previous experience of end-to-end credit control and accounts receivable processes.
  • Working knowledge of Credit law.
  • Staff management would be beneficial
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages.
