Credit Controller / Leicester / Up to £26,000 + Bonus / City Centre / Hybrid / Permanent

Based in Leicester, City Centre, this company provides essential support services to various businesses, including those within media and publishing sectors. They handle accounts receivable, credit control, accounts payable, and general accounting functions.

Established in October 2008, their finance services continue to evolve to meet the dynamic needs of their clients. With a dedicated team of approximately 65 professionals, they oversee financial operations, including Credit Control, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Main Purpose of the Job: As a Credit Controller, the primary objective is to maintain robust debt collection processes, ultimately safeguarding company profits and minimising bad debts.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks: The duties include:

  • Prompt and efficient collection of debt from all accounts.
  • Timely resolution of issues to prevent increases in aged debt.
  • Implementation and enforcement of credit and allowance policies.
  • Evaluation and approval of credit within specified authority levels.
  • Accurate posting and allocation of payments to the sales ledger.
  • Cultivation of productive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Regular provision of progress reports to the Line Manager.
  • Monitoring system performance and identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Implementation of new processes to align with evolving business needs.
  • Support for team members and contribution to a customer-centric culture.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Skills, Experience, and Capabilities Required: While prior experience in a Credit Control role is desirable, they value candidates with:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.

Qualifications and Experience: Essential qualifications and experiences include:

  • Accountancy Skills: GCSE Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent.
  • Customer Service Skills: Experience in serving internal and external customers, with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Clerical Skills: GCSE English at grade C or above, or equivalent, along with excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft packages, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
