Achieve Professionals are currently representing a Manchester based law firm in their requirement for an experienced Costs Litigation Executive/Case Handler/Negotiator.

Experience & Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with a mixture of personal injury and clinical negligence costs matters, of both fast track and multi-track values.
  • You'll need 1 - 5 years experience working either in-house or for a costs firm and have experience of:
    • handling your own caseload from inception to conclusion
    • negotiating settlement of costs in litigated and non-litigated claimant personal injury cases
    • advising fee earners regarding costs disputes and assisting with their own negotiations
    • preparation of summary assessment schedules, breakdown of costs and formal bills
    • drafting replies to Points of Dispute
    • Drafting Budgets
    • Advocacy / Attending CCMCs
    • Supporting junior team members

Skills & Attributes:

  • Completion of a legal qualification (LLB, GDL or LPC) desired
  • Drafting skills associated with completing Precedent H, R and Q and finalising formal bills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible work approach
  • Knowledge of time recording
  • Working knowledge of CPR and Detailed Assessment process
  • Experience of using a case management system, ideally Proclaim
