Costs Draftsperson - Commercial Litigation & Recoveries

Liverpool  (1 day per week)

£30,000 - £38,000

My client is seeking a skilled Costs Draftsperson to join their growing technical costs team. The successful candidate will primarily handle commercial litigation cases, both defending and recoveries. This role requires efficient settlement of costs and excellent negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload using an in-house case management system.
  • Draft costs schedules, bills, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare points of dispute and consider replies.
  • Develop cost strategy reports.
  • Negotiate costs settlements.
  • Correspond with clients and handle telephone calls.
  • Provide regular updates to clients regarding case progress.
  • Instruct Counsel or Costs Lawyer for Detailed Assessment or conduct own advocacy.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar costs draftsperson role.
  • Previous experience in client liaison.
  • Proficiency in preparing various legal documents related to costs.
  • Familiarity with Detailed Assessment process, Cost Case Laws, and Insurance Litigation practice & process.
  • Strong IT skills.

Desirable:
  • Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD.
  • Experience and ability to conduct own advocacy.
