Salary: Circa £45,000-£50,000 depending on experience

Hybrid working pattern: We trust our people to agree, within their teams, where and when they can be most effective. Our Dynamic Working policy allows individuals flexibility around the hours they work and where they work. Typically for this role you will work 2-3 days per week on-site.  

The opportunity:

MBDA are recruiting for a finance professional play a key role in our Cost Control team partnering with the Programmes Directorate. This is more than a core finance role. You will be part of a team applying rigorous financial control to the Programmes Cost Base, which involves partnering with senior functional managers, co-ordinating financial planning activities in support of the annual budget and longer term business planning cycles and maintaining and improving best practices as part of a high performing finance team.

This role is ideal for a newly qualified/finalist accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience in a large multi-national corporate environment.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Business partnering senior business leaders acting as counsel, challenge and decision support to ensure targets are met. 
  • Co-ordination of functional business planning and budgeting activities as part of the wider Natco planning process
  • Providing functional reporting to senior finance and operational leaders
  • Consolidating functional headcount and strategic manning
  • Support any functional CAPEX evaluation and planning
  • Work on ad-hoc analysis and/or projects supporting Programmes and internal to finance
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify and improve internal finance processes and standardise reporting
  • Taking part in month end close process
  • Cash flow forecasting for "central" items ie: payroll, CAPEX etc
What we're looking for from you:
  • Fully qualified accountant or finalist (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Intermediate level Excel user comfortable with manipulating data
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction
  • Proven expertise in building and maintaining robust financial models and interrogating data
  • Ability to build strong and productive working relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues, whilst maintaining independence and integrity.
  • Experience of presenting/discussing financial data with non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge the business to make effective decisions whilst being cost-conscious.
  • Proficiency in using and understanding Enterprise Finance systems such as SAP, BPC, SAC etc would be beneficial
  • Experience of working in a team spread across several locations and a willingness to travel occasionally is desirable.
