Barribal Associates are supporting a boutique Private Equity House, with an outstanding record of strategic business growth, delivery and multiple returns to investors. This role sits within one of the portfolio companies, an internationally renowned manufacturing business, and is designed to support a significant finance transformation and development project.

The Head of Finance, placed there myself last year, has created this new role to be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial aspects related to the company's operations. The role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. You will work hand in hand with the FP&A Manager & Business Partner and with wider operational team managers, to ensure robust information is available to the business.

Your remit of responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for operational expenses.

Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.

Cost Analysis:

Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.

Provide recommendations to management based on findings.

Comprehensive understanding of standard costing process and variance analysis.

ERP System:

Understanding of ERP systems, support the business in areas of improvement within the ERP system.

Inventory Management:

Coordinate with operations and inventory management teams to ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions, including valuation and reconciliation of inventory accounts.

Working with supply chain to improve quality of data to improve effectiveness of standard costing.

Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.

Streamline processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Financial Analysis:

Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as requested by management, such as pricing analysis, profitability analysis, and scenario modelling to support decision-making.

Vendor Management:

Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to ensure accurate recording of vendor transactions, price variances and forecast prices to ensure the business has the latest information.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with various departments, including operations, finance, and procurement, to gather data, resolve issues, and support business objectives.

Candidates will likely be fully qualified and have proven experience in an operationally focussed capacity within a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of accounting principles. You will have naturally robust analytical skills and an inquisitive mind that delivers problem-solving solutions and ideas. You will be unafraid to "challenge the norm" and be tenacious in your desire to bring a continuous improvement mentality to the partnership between finance and the operational business.
