Corporate Lawyer

Our client is a leading law firm. Their award-winning Corporate practice provides clients with market-leading legal advice on their most important commercial transactions, including significant cross-border mergers and acquisitions, ground-breaking projects, complex capital markets fundraisings, financial regulation, inward investment, governance and risk management for companies' boards and corporate tax advice.

The firm's clients include leading members of the FTSE100, FTSE250 and AIM, and they are known for expertise across a wide range of industry sectors including energy, mining, infrastructure, technology, media and telecoms, and financial services. This team regularly advises businesses which are reshaping, restructuring and expanding into the world's established and emerging markets.

Due to growing and consistent client demand, there is now a new vacancy for a mid-level (probably 4-6 PQE) Associate to join this market-leading corporate team.

This role will entail a range of cross-border transactions, including public company takeovers, private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital reconstructions and demergers within a wide range of industry sectors. For this role, it is expected you will have experience leading on deals and when appropriate taking a leading role on client matters, including assisting with preparation, negotiation, and delivery of proposals, estimates and pitches. You'll also assist in supporting optimal utilisation of the team, delegating work to juniors as appropriate, and keeping Senior Associates and Partners informed, and assisting them to monitor and control progress against objectives, scope, timelines and budgets.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• Trained and qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales, or a relevant international jurisdiction (with current experience gained in the London market).
• Probably 4-6 years' PQE in corporate M&A.
• A common sense, down-to-earth approach.
• Advanced legal skills, including complex drafting, negotiation and project management skills, with good people management and business development skills.
• Commerciality, and the ability to work in a sometimes fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment.
• The ability to deal with clients and colleagues in a relaxed and confident manner.
