School Chef – Term Time Only

Salary: £23,175.00

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Bletchley, Milton Keynes

Cambian Bletchley Park School is an independent specialist school, offering 38-week day placements for students aged 7-19 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour and related conditions or diagnoses.

We have an exciting opportunity for a school cook to join our team!

The ideal candidate will have passion and flair for food. As the school cook you will be required to manage the smooth running of the kitchen on a daily basis, ensuring lunches and dinners are produced to a high standard for students, some of which are on restrictive diets, staff and visitors. Managing the kitchen team, budget, stock control, menu planning, promoting health, safety and hygiene and attending and supporting training are all requisites of the post.

You will be a highly motivated cook, able to work to deadlines, experienced in producing fresh and healthy food from scratch, catering for various types of hospitality functions and work well in a team.

Previous management experience in a kitchen environment is essential as well as knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene. We are looking for someone who is able to come up with new and innovative ideas and keep up with current trends in the market place. An NVQ or equivalent in Catering would be an advantage.

Requirements for an Enhanced DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice. Whilst we endeavour to keep the recruitment process as short as possible due to the nature of these important checks it may extend the processing time. All young people are equally entitled to have their needs met in a fair and balanced way. Cambian Group employees are responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or any other perceived difference.

We will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will be purely based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
