Are you an experienced Contracts Manager looking for a new challenge?

An established house builder have a requirement for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team to manage housing developments in the North West area.

Reporting to the Construction Director you will be responsible for overseeing multiple developments across region. You will effectively motivate, support and manage the site based management teams to ensure that each development achieves the desired health and safety standards, achieve programme and quality requirements and promote the importance of customer relationships to all site based teams to include directly employed and sub-contracted staff.

Contracts Manager duties will include:

  • Overall responsibility for the management of a number of contracts
  • To ensure each contract is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required standard of quality, all of which will ensure client satisfaction
  • To encourage, mentor, and coach the site management team
  • To develop effective working relationships with clients and consultants
  • To promote personal development in your team
  • Commercial awareness of contracts to maximise profitability
  • Acting as a first point of contact for the contract operations team to offer support and advice
  • Responsible for the management, planning, programming & phasing of all projects
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of both Health & Safety Legislation and internal Management System
  • Deliver project programme and phasing presentations to clients
  • Managing your team; setting objectives and developing people within it
  • Managing effective meetings; pre-start, hand-over meetings, sub-contractor progress, contract progress, internal team meetings as required
  • Supporting effective recruitment and selection processes to appoint suitable site staff
  • Applying a leadership style which is in line with the overall culture and values of the business
  • Providing a service of quality to customers and clients, both internal and external
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external clients
  • Managing budgets and input into cost reporting in conjunction with the Commercial team.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role managing multiple volume mixed tenure housing developments. You will have good knowledge of traditional and timber frame constructions methods and excellent management and communication skills with the ability to proactively manage production teams on multiple sites at any one time, including direct labour and sub-contractor resource and the ability to deliver quality construction projects within budget and programme timescales in a safe environment. SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid, NVQ Level 4 or above.
