Come join the team as a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Copse, a well established 24 bed locked rehabilitation service for men in Weston-Super-mare. Weston-Super-Mare is a popular tourist destination ideally situated for rural and coastal living. It is close to Bristol which has an international airport and national rail services.
Working between 30- 37.5 hours a week, you will work with the multidisciplinary team in delivering patient centred care. 
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Management of complex cases
  • Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness
  • Liaison and collaborative working with care co-ordinators, commissioners, families and carers and other services/agencies
  • Mental Health Act implementation and liaison with Ministry of Justice (if applicable)
  • Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working including oversight of the physical health management of patients in partnership with the visiting General Practitioner
  • Administrative duties associated with the care of patients including ensuring all NHSE contractual obligations are met
  • Contribution to clinical governance and responsibility for setting and monitoring standards
  • Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities and service/team evaluation and the planning of future service developments
  • Maintenance of professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct
* The hospital runs a two-tier on-call system with first tier on-call provided by associate specialists and agency on-call. The post holder will be required to be part of the second tier hospital on-call as the duty Responsible Clinician
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • To hold Section 12(2) approval to work in England and Approved clinician status.
  • Previous experience working in rehabilitation settings is desirable.
