Their forward-thinking approach includes providing strategic economic research and construction market context for clients. The Construction Economist is responsible for delivering this work, as well as acting as adviser to the leadership team and the wider organisation, providing detailed economic briefings and regular market updates.
This macro and medium/long-term economic insight is essential to underpinning day-to-day client work, providing cost advice and analysis against value.
This is an autonomous role for an confident economist with the desire to take ownership of the development and expansion of this critical function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching and identifying potential drivers for forecasting inflation in the construction market
- Providing specialist market intelligence and macroeconomic insights
- Acting as economic adviser to Clients, holding regular meetings and presenting Quarterly Market Updates
- Supporting leadership and the wider company with the relevant market research
- Working closely with Digital & Data Lead, and wider Working Groups, drive thought leadership initiatives and develop content for publication to market
- Use data analysis and insights to contribute to business planning initiatives
- Speaking at external events to raise individual and organisational profile
We're looking for:
- A qualification in Economics with experience applying this in a commercial setting
- Ability to synthesise various different trends, data and views to arrive at key messages, reconcile different points of view constructively
- A self-starter with the capability and motivation to expand and develop the role and function in time
- A strong presenter, confident holding their own in Client and Partner discussions
- Construction Industry/ Quantity Surveying knowledge is a bonus but not a prerequisite
