Competition Litigation Lawyer

Our client is a large and prestigious international law firm.

Their Competition team is consistently rated as one of the leading practices in its field, with Lawyers based across Europe, and Asia Pacific. The firm's client base includes leading financial institutions, top Fortune and FTSE companies from all industry sectors, regulatory bodies and national governments.

The team handles the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious competition, regulation and trade work globally, including:

• Cartel and other behavioural investigations
• Merger control
• Antitrust advice
• Competition litigation (private enforcement and appeals)
• Regulatory matters
• State aid, public procurement, WTO and trade

The team is now looking to add to its contentious resource with the addition of an additional mid-level Competition Litigation Lawyer. This opportunity has a significant focus on contentious matters, in particular private enforcement and other competition disputes, and the successful applicant will join a market leading competition litigation practice which sits within both the Competition team and the firm's wider Dispute Resolution division.

The team has particular expertise in defending follow-on, hybrid and stand-alone claims across multiple jurisdictions, including acting on many of the most complex recent and on-going cases in the UK, as well as providing expert strategic advice on private enforcement risks and the relationship with the public enforcement process. Amongst other matters, the role would involve assisting in the defence of damages actions in the High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal and managing the response to multi-jurisdictional claims.

In order to be considered for this sensational role you will have:

• A strong academic background
• Most likely between 2 and 5 years' post-qualification experience gained within a strong UK or European Competition litigation practice (and including hands-on experience in the High Court and/or the Competition Appeal Tribunal)
• Strong foundation legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and project management skills
• People management and business development skills
• To be a bright self-starter looking for a challenge, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels.
