Are you looking for a summer internship in Communications? One that develops commercial acumen alongside your technical skills?

We're looking for undergraduates in their penultimate year of study who can answer yes" to the above for our Summer Internship Programme. You'll join us in one of L&G's divisions (Retail), gaining valuable insights over the course of the 8-week placement.

Please note, we can only accept 1 application per person across all of our intern programmes. Therefore, please think carefully about the programme you intend to apply for. Your first application will be considered as your only application.

Please note that this role is based in Cardiff and requires some in person working at our Cardiff office, as part of our hybrid working model. If you do not currently live within a commutable distance to the Cardiff office, you would need to relocate and unfortunately we do not provide financial support to do this at this time.

Job Description

This role will give you the opportunity to support our Retail Communications team in delivering the internal communications strategy for L&G Retail.

This role will involve supporting the team in a variety of tasks giving you exposure to all aspects of internal communications as well as content creation, delivery and management. There are numerous internal channels and the successful candidate may have the opportunity to get involved in the administration and where possible, project management of these.

During the internship you can expect to;
  • Support the Communications team in successfully executing and delivering effective communications across our core businesses.
  • Provide support to the team by monitoring the team mailbox, updating the content calendar, writing reports and drafting responses as well as providing support for any other appropriate administration tasks.
  • Assist in drafting content for multiple channels, including: emails, newsletters, our intranet (the Hub), news stories, MS Teams updates and multimedia content (e.g. videos).
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of in-person and virtual colleague events.
  • Support with reporting of key metrics and feedback across channels and touchpoints.
Qualifications

The successful candidate does not need to have previous Communications experience (although this would be an advantage); however they will;
  • Be a penultimate year university student, studying a related course on track for a 2:1
  • Have a keen and demonstrable interest in Communications
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn how to draft engaging and informative communications
  • Possess strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently focusing on priorities, and managing a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Have impecible attention to detail and good proof-reading skills
  • Be collaborative and enjoy working in a close knit team
