Salary: £45,868 - £50,039 per annum

Our client are an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). They provide civil and criminal legal aid and advice in England and Wales to help people deal with their legal problems.

The Role

The organisation is operating in a significant period of change with the development of a new government procurement regime following the UKs departure from the EU taking place at the same time as potentially significant reforms to the criminal and civil legal aid. This creates multiple procurement challenges to be steered through to deliver successful outcomes for the organisation and its clients.

There are a total of 3 roles available covering the need to lead tender processes and to plan and support delivery through the commissioning cycle by applying project tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tender activities to agreed timetables and ensure deliverables meet targets for access and customer needs within the constraints of budget and organisational policy
  • Agree clear specification of tenders, meeting the operational needs of the organisation and facilitating effective contract management
  • Contribute to monitoring capacity and access within the legal aid market and action arising where gaps are identified
  • Build knowledge and understanding of procurement policy and practice
  • Undertake line management responsibilities as necessitated by the role
  • Ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling
  • Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making
  • Manage and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • Ability to develop workable solutions to complex issues
  • Effective analytical/numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective influencing skills
  • Effective planning skills and an ability to deliver quickly and effectively to tight deadlines

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • An up to date understanding of the LAA’s duties under procurement regulations and their application to tender processes.
  • Experience of running tender processes and using eTendering systems as a mechanism for this
  • Project management experience
  • Wider business and/or commercial contracts experience
  • Experience of implementing change
