A skilled Commercial Tyre Technician is needed to join our team at Tyre Centre Direct, a commercial tyre specialist based in Wolverhampton, on a full-time basis.

The role is for a mobile tyre technician and therefore, applicants are expected to have a full UK (or applicable other) driving licence.

You will be required to work Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. For out-of-hours work, you will receive a £50 call-out bonus followed by hourly pay after 2 hours. You will be expected to be on call for at least 1-2 days a week with opportunities for more work also available.

You will be given the necessary resources to ensure that the job will be completed, including (but not limited to): access to all relevant equipment and tyres, access to the mobile tyre van and access to a fuel card.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tyre services include but are not limited to: Fitting, Repairing, Regrooving, Diagnosing, Aligning
  • On vehicles including but not limited to: Car, Van, Truck, Trailer, JCB, Forklift, Earthmover, Tractor
  • Inspect and identify issues with tyres and related components (including an understanding of axles)
  • Repair damaged tyres, including regrooving, punctures (including replacing of inner tubes) and, where possible major repairs
  • Strip, fit and balance tyres
  • Perform wheel alignment using our laser wheel alignment equipment (training can be provided for this)
  • The Technician should be comfortable executing tyre services in accordance with the methods displayed by or approved by TCD and accreditors
  • Technicians will also be expected to do fleet checks from the customer base
  • The equipment in the workstations should be checked regularly, so to ensure their upkeep
  • Where a shortage in tools or tyre equipment has occurred, it is your duty to report this back to the operations team
  • If any maintenance is required on vehicles or tools, then this should be reported immediately to the line manager/operations officer
  • Before and after commencing work or services, the Technician should also ensure the area is well kept so as to avoid damage caused to themselves or the property worked on
  • The Technician is expected to conduct themselves with the same values and respect they are given in the workplace so as to represent the company with the best standards
  • In your senior role, you are expected to supervise juniors and step into an operational role where appropriate
  • You may need to, from time to time, communicate with external and third-party suppliers
