Commercial Officer (MD/CEO Designate)

Location: Leeds

Reporting To: Group Board

Package: Circa £100k -£130k + Bonus + Benefits

Responsibilities, Experience & Qualifications

(Italian language skills preferred as is a business appreciation of Italian culture)

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business or a related field, MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • Passionate about people, whether it's customers, or colleagues, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues, having exceptional communication skills.
  • A strong collaborator, who acts with integrity and transparency, whilst building trust.
  • An enthusiastic and energetic person, who can keep people motivated to achieve.
  • Honest, with a commitment to high standards.
  • A commercial approach; able to spot opportunities that add value.
  • Maintaining budgetary oversight for efficient financial operations.

  • Good performance and project management skills.
  • Skilled and experienced at strategic and business planning, based on market trends.
  • Robust financial management skills, able to drive EBITDA improvement through strategic initiatives.
  • Analytical, with strong decision-making skills.
  • Report writing skills that motivate to action, based on sound data.
  • Has a strong understanding of supply chains and third party relationships.

Experience

  • A demonstrable track record of profitably growing a food manufacturing organisation, with full P&L responsibility.
  • Substantial experience of working in the retail or food manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Director, or similar role.
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement, keeping our colleagues and customers loyal.
  • Proven experience of hitting challenging targets and other KPIs, to enable the company to grow. This would include driving revenue growth and expanding market share.
  • Delivering change and a focus on value added.
  • Building a high performing team; recruiting, developing and keeping them motivated and driven.
  • Substantial experience at Senior Leadership level, comfortable setting and delivering against strategic goals.
  • Substantial experience at implementing company policies and ensuring adherence.
  • Experience at maintaining budgetary oversight for efficient financial operations.
  • Experience of establishing relationships with industry experts and enhancing the company's public profile.
  • An experienced decision maker, comfortable in being held accountable for their outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • To lead the organisation to achieve high growth in turnover year on year, identifying new and improved key metrics to evidence progress and performance.
  • To improve profitability by ensuring the business has a positive, performance-focused culture.
  • To be data driven, monitoring and analysing performance across the organisation. To take remedial action where necessary to ensure that targets are met.
  • Understand all aspects of the operations of the business.
  • Ensure all business activities are in line with the organisation's objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of the Company's strategy.
  • To challenge assumptions and business decisions to ensure the impact is understood before decisions are made.
  • Ensure that effective recruitment, motivation, drive, training & development, performance management and retention processes are in place and adhered to.
  • Ensure that all company policies in relation to people management are communicated, applied and adhered to within the organisation.
  • To develop strong and positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • To control all costs within budgeted levels.
  • To maintain a transparent relationship with the Board.
  • Providing appropriate written and verbal reports proactively, at the appropriate time.
  • Presenting options to address lower performance, with clear recommendations.
  • Delivery of sustained profitable turnover growth - as a minimum meeting the Company's operational guidelines
  • Achieving budgeted volume and margin
  • Delivery of effective and timely cost price increases
