Change Recruitment are currently working with a rapidly growing manufacturing business based in Swindon to find a dynamic and hungry Commercial Buyer. 

Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, with a dotted line to the Sales Director, this is role required a commercially focussed candidate who will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating great deals with suppliers. You will be given autonomy to source new suppliers to get the best possible price in order to drive profitability.  As such you will need to be commercially astute and have strong negotiation and relationship skills.

This dynamic role will pro-actively lead price negotiation and co-ordinate purchases. This is a key role to drive and deliver best in class customer service and cost savings through smart inventory management and strategic purchasing decisions. As such the ideal candidate will be innovative, entrepreneurial and comfortable challenging the status-quo.

Key Duties:

  • Work alongside sales to dynamically negotiate supplier costs and enable more competitive pricing.
  • Ensure orders to suppliers enable shipments to us on time and in full.
  • Work with sales to establish accurate forecasting requirements for purchasing.
  • Analyse and achieve pack size optimisation to establish a best in class responsiveness to our customers and cost savings.
  • Analysis of data to ensure efficient stocking policies deliver commercial benefits
  • Point of contact on behalf of the purchase team for certain commodities.
  • Support the introduction of new products from existing and new suppliers.
  • Placing purchase orders to ensure the inventory is kept at optimum levels.
  • Maintain supplier price agreements, communicating changes where appropriate.
  • Ensure ERP data is kept updated and maintained to the highest standard.
  • Develop and leverage lean principles and digital solutions to continuously improve process and system efficiencies.

Key Skills:

  • Commercially focused and results orientated.
  • A passion for quality and bottom line improvement
  • Data driven mindset demonstrated by strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills to strengthen supply chain relationships.

This role will suit someone who is career focused, as with company growth it is likely that this role will grow alongside given its visibility within the business.  Anyone from a sales, purchasing or commercial background will be considered providing they can demonstrate strong negotiation skills and the above key skills criteria.

In return, our client is offering a competitive salary, good bonus structure based on performance, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm with an hour for lunch, 25 days holiday, company pension.
