Monday to Thursday 7 am - 4 pm

Friday 7 am - 12 pm

Job Purpose - To machine components and assemblies to drawings, and customer requirements and in line with the company’s Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental procedures.

Key Accountabilities -

  • Read engineering drawings and determine the fixtures, attachments, tools, and labour necessary to complete jobs according to specifications, and mount them to the machine before beginning to cutting
  • Modify machine speed, tooling, and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts
  • Oversee the cutting process, adjust where necessary throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen, and take necessary measures to eliminate errors
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold the company's reputation
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, coolant, cleaning, and tool replacement
  • Work by company checklists and procedures, only signing off work where you are completely confident it meets the specification
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and wearing the correct PPE
  • Ensure correct hygiene standards are adhered to for own work and surrounding areas
  • Checking programs for colleagues
  • Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and teamwork.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Work safely ensuring the wellbeing of yourself and those around you.
  • Machine start-up/shutdown
  • Identify and report potential injury causes in the workplace

Knowledge, Experience, Skills & Qualifications -

Essential

  • Grade 4 GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Experience in CNC Machining programming and interpreting CNC software
  • Experience in reading and working on drawings, including tolerances and dimensions
  • Pro-active Communication with colleagues and customers to ensure excellent customer service
  • Team working skills including communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution
  • Attention to detail and natural curiosity to thoroughly investigate and problem-solve
  • Values precision, and enforces quality standards
  • Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery

Desirable:

  • L3 Apprenticeship in Machining or equivalent
  • Experience working on Siemens and Protrak Controls
  • Experience working to Aerospace and Nuclear drawings
  • Experience in machining to a description / written instruction or sketch.
