CNC Miller - Setter Operator

Manchester, Greater Manchester
£32,000 to £37,000 per annum

An independent, global manufacturer for niche markets, working with a large portfolio of some of the world's most renowned, global, blue-chip organisations.
Due to continued growth is client base workload and order book, a new position has come available for an experienced CNC Machinist within their Milling department.

Job Profile
As the successful CNC Miller, your primary role will be to ensure that allocated CNC Milling machines are set and run, producing quality parts according to instructions in appropriate times.

Duties:

  • Set and operate 3, 4 & 5 axis milling machines as required:
    • Set and prove out job, obtaining a first of job has been proved out.
    • Make Edits to programs when needed.
    • Run milling machines after editing (when needed) & setting, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the entire production run.
    • Ensure that tooling, fixtures, and relevant information is prepared and available when required.
    • Identify any engineering requirements / issues that arise and communicate to the relevant person - i.e., Team Leaders, Production Planner, Maintenance & Engineering Departments.
    • Ensuring routine machine maintenance is carried out as necessary.
    • Where possible, operate more than one machine.
  • Check manufactured parts for compliance to drawing:
    • Operate a CNC CMM machines, following instructions to run programs.
    • Operate a Manual CMM machine to check drawing compliance.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and practices are followed in line with company policy:
    • Ensure work in carried out in a safe manner both to themselves and to their colleagues.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S policies and procedures within the workplace.
    • Ensure that 5S, TPM and other programmes in Wolfmet Machine Shop area is sustained and worked to.
  • Assist with problem solving any issues that appear.
  • Communicate any issues through appropriate.
  • methods to the engineering, and technical departments.
  • Identify and develop manufacturing improvements / procedures.
  • Ensure that any methods improvements are communicated through the appropriate means.


Skills & Attributes:

  • Engineering Experience:
    • Completed an engineering apprenticeship.
    • Experience working on 3, 4 & 5 axis CNC Milling machines with a Mazak (desirable) or Fanuc controls (5 axis experience is a must).
    • Good understanding of engineering practices and methods.
    • Knowledge and understanding of machining methods.
    • Familiar with CMM software (desirable).
    • Understanding of Health & Safety risks and practices in a machine shop
  • Special Attributes:
    • Able to think logically through solving a problem.
    • Dedication to the job and a willingness to achieve.
    • A good sense of urgency.
    • Team player, energetic, willing to help and develop, logical & tidy.


Hours of Work:

  • Weekly rotating shift pattern (Days &Lates)
    • 6am - 2pm / 1:45pm - 10:15pm, Mon - Thurs & 1pm - 6:30pm, Friday (weekly rotating)
  • Lots of Overtime available, during week x1.25hrs, Sat x1.5hrs, Sun x1.666hrs
