JOB TITLE: CNC Machine Setter

Location of Work: Rainham, Greater London

Salary:£32,760 / £15.75ph

Hours: 6am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Setting and operating of CNC lathes, vertical machining centres and horizontal machining centres using Fanuc & Mazak controls and conventional machines as and when required (Drills, capstan lathes, fly press etc)
  • Ensuring cycle times and outputs are achieved to the correct quality standard, report failings.
  • Complete detailed quality checks against dimensional drawings using measuring equipment, verniers, micrometers and gauges etc,
  • Pass off 1st off approvals for production run and log and record all measurements on the relevant check sheets.
  • Program transfers from and to the DNC computer system. Fanuc controlled CNC lathe machines machining Brass bar. Set machines as requested and ensure that cycle times achieve the quality and output standards required
  • Recognise, identify and rectify or report exceptional requirements or shortfalls for parts and components.
  • Train and develop new team members to the standard required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and be responsible for good housekeeping and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety standards.
  • Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Fill in for machine shop team leader when required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Time served CNC Setter experience with understanding of set ups and tooling
  • Ability to read drawings and to understand engineering language
  • Some programming experience preferred
  • Experience of Mazak CNC lathes
  • Experience of using Fanuc controls
  • Engineering qualification or NVQ or equivalent preferred
