Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Children in Need Social Worker to join our dynamic team on a contract basis, offering an attractive rate of £35 per hour. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing the needs of children and families, coordinating services, and implementing tailored support plans to address complex issues and promote positive outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify strengths, needs, and risks, utilizing evidence-based tools and frameworks.
  • Develop and implement holistic support plans in collaboration with children, families, and relevant professionals, ensuring that interventions are child-centered and culturally sensitive.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to children and families, addressing issues such as safeguarding concerns, family breakdown, substance misuse, domestic violence, and mental health difficulties.
  • Advocate for the rights and best interests of children and families, representing them in meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings as required.
  • Liaise with external agencies and partner organizations to coordinate services and access resources to meet the needs of children and families effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including social work assistants, team managers, and other professionals, to ensure coordinated and integrated support for children and families.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training sessions to enhance professional development and practice knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (e.g., HCPC).
  • Proven experience working with children and families in need within a social services or child welfare setting.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify needs, risks, and protective factors and develop appropriate support plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection, safeguarding, and children in need.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the community (if required).
