About Beacon

One of the strongest predictors of social, emotional and behavioural outcomes for children in residential care is the leadership capabilities of the residential care workers they are supported by. However, residential staff are paid less than London living wage and receive no professional certification or long-term career pathways, which leaves the profession with a high turnover and shortages of permanent staff. This ultimately impacts the experience of young people in care.

Beacon recruits, trains and places the best and brightest professional residential carers in its model care homes. It uses evidence-based methodologies supported by the What Works Centre and global child-centred research. By doing so, Beacon provides best in-class social, emotional and behavioural outcomes for children in care across the UK.
