Children's Home Deputy Manager

Location: Preston, UK (Manual driving licence essential)

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per year

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Manager to join our team in providing meaningful care and support for children and young people with diverse needs.

Role Overview:

As Deputy Manager, you will assist the Registered Manager in creating an emotionally secure, consistent, and supportive environment for our service users. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the general leadership and management of a staff team.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the house, programs, and activities.
  • Setting high standards of professional courtesy, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Chairing meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Training new staff in care procedures and routines.
  • Identifying and assessing each young person’s problems and unique needs.
  • Assigning Key Workers to each young person and overseeing the writing of placement plans.
  • Attending review meetings and representing the home.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with each young person to ensure their needs are met.
  • Ensuring social and recreational activities are well planned, organized, and supervised.

Key Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care and/or Children and Young People’s service or equivalent.
  • A Level 5 in Leadership and Management with children & young people is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a Residential Support Worker setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading/managing a team of support workers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (manual).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
