We are delighted to represent a highly innovative engineering company, recognised as the leader in cutting-edge, green technology in their field, with their search for a CFO.

This role is responsible for all financial management, forecasting, budgeting, cash management and commercial strategies for the business. A major part of the role will be leading in investor relations and commercial matters, developing the best path of sustainable growth and investment.

The company are looking to pay a basic salary of circa £105,000 per annum plus a car allowance of £7,800. Other benefits include private healthcare, a generous private pension, free parking and hybrid working. The two major selling points are working for a company striving to make a real difference on a worldwide scale with pioneering net zero technology, alongside the company share scheme, which will result in 'significant' financial reward post sale or flotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic commercial financial leadership to ensure the financial security and sustainability of the business
  • Maximise profitability and drive business growth.
  • Develop and oversee financial strategies and plans aligned with the organisation’s goals.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the CEO and management team, providing analytical insights and evaluation to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Take a lead role in driving and guiding investment raising efforts and maintaining on-going investor relationships.
  • Ensure all operational financial practices are compliant with all statutory reporting, tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and develop the finance team.
  • Provide tactical guidance to identify and effectively manage key risks and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership as an active member of the senior management team.
  • Demonstrate high levels of professional integrity and be guided by ethical business principals in all working activities, promoting them to others.

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience of raising external finance, funding and investment for a growing business - this could be from a manufacturing, engineering or technology firm - but also someone from an investment firm.
  • Extensive experience in a senior financial role with well-rounded business understanding including company secretarial, commercial contracts and insurance. Ideally green tech or engineering company exposure.
  • A credible executive business leader able to advise CEO and Board on all matters financial and business related.
  • Able to effectively articulate the business strategy and financial performance to the board, investor community and other business groups.
  • Ability to positively communicate and foster constructive relationships with colleagues, customers, investors, analysts and other business groups.
  • Hands on, pragmatic and happy to get into the detail but also possessing the confidence and ability to contribute at board level offering strategic and commercial acumen and new ideas.
  • Accountancy qualification from one of the major UK bodies i.e. CIMA, ACCA, ACA

The role might be best suited to someone who has a vast experience at this level, who isn't after an initial large basic, but rather wants something interesting and to be part of a project that's inspiring, with the potential of a significant financial reward later down the line.
