The Company:
ER Recruitment are working exclusively with Leicestershire based charity, Lamp, who are passionate about the local community and giving a voice to all people whose lives are affected by mental health throughout Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.
This is a unique opportunity to work for a successful charity and we will consider candidates outside of the sector also.

Role & Responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer:

  • Strategic planning alongside the Board of Trustees and delivery of the annual budget and business plan
  • Report to, and work closely with, the Board of Trustees to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organisation.
  • Establishing appropriate policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the organisation.
  • Ensure the development of current and new services in accordance with the strategic development business plan, and that all proposals for new services are subject to robust risk analysis and shared with the Board of Trustees.
  • Serving as the primary spokesperson and ambassador to the organisation, the media, and to members of the public.
  • Lead, motivate, support and develop all staff to secure continuous improvement and develop a first-class Leadership team and organisation.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with philanthropic and major donors, potential partners, and commissioners.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various business’ and organisations, and to utilise those relationships to strategically enhance the organisation’s Mission.
  • Supervise, motivate, and collaborate with the organisation’s staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee marketing and communications, including social media.
  • Review and approve contracts for services.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.


About You as the Chief Executive Officer:

  • Experience in a senior management position, with strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Strong organisational skills including planning, delegating, programme development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to convey a vision of our client’s strategic future to staff, the Board of Trustees, volunteers and donors.
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate Trustees and other volunteers.
  • Ability to engage with diverse volunteer and donor group.
  • A demonstrated ability to oversee, motivate and collaborate with staff.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
