Chef - Weekends & Evenings Off

  • Reports to: Head Chef
  • Location: Hastings
  • Salary: £26k-£30k depending on experience
  • Type: 37 hours per week

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Hastings who need someone to start immediately.

Role Purpose

  • The role of the College Chef is to assist the Head Chef, in conjunction with Catering assistants in the organisation, preparation and presentation of high quality hot and cold meals for students, staff commercial lettings, hospitality and other events.

Primary Duties

  • Responsible for the various stages of meal preparation and work well in a team environment
  • To prepare, cook and serve any food as delegated, ensuring the highest possible quality
  • Adhere to agreed standards for food preparation and presentation and ensure these are always met; to follow recipes when instructed to
  • To be innovative and creative
  • Follow company procedures for food temperature checks, food labelling/dating, cleaning schedules and hygiene regulations, ensuring the necessary data is recorded in a timely and accurate manor
  • To ensure all food allergen procedures are adhered to

Requirements

  • Able to pass an Enhanced DBS check
  • Experience working as a chef
  • The ability to work under pressure in the kitchen
  • A passion for learning on the job
  • Experience working well within a team
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Knowledge of nutrition and allergens
