Chartered Financial Planner - sizeable ongoing fees to inherit

How do I get better?

This is a question you've been asking yourself recently.

There's nothing "wrong" with where you are. It's a good firm. They're a nice bunch. But you've gone as far as you can and want something... more.

At this business you'll not just take over a sizeable, HNW client portfolio (more of that later).

You'll be joining a firm that can help you become more niche by focusing their acquisitions on clients that interest you. A firm that has a great track record of nurturing/developing their staff, at all levels. A firm that knows it has to focus on retaining their staff at a time when there's never been more competition.

And as for that client book, well, it's a cracker. An outgoing senior planner is leaving behind a HNW client base with c£300,000 ongoing fees attached to it.

You'll have all the data (ages, business mix etc) you need to know what you're walking into. And you can put these ongoing fees against your target. So even on a c£75,000 salary you'll be overachieving your target by retaining what you take over.

It means that all new business you do comes with bonus and at 30% that's some sizeable bonus. Add in 15% on ongoing fees and you're well into six figures.

So you know the fundamentals but what about the other side - the culture?

This is an acquisitive outfit who are great at nurturing talent. True they need to hire someone who is well qualified but they're a believer that everyone can learn. And joining a firm that puts such emphasis on helping their planners be the best they can be is always a good idea.

They'll support you with admin and paraplanning, plus you'll have a dedicated manager. And the support team is front and centre when it comes to managing client relationships. You'll have as much time freed up as possible to spend on the good stuff.

It's a salaried position of up to c£75,000 with a generous bonus scheme. There's flexible working and an ethos of encouraging a healthy work/life balance.

And the feedback we get from planners who have interviewed and now work for them, is excellent.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Given the profile of the clients you'll be an experienced planner. You'll have strong technical skills and ideally you'll have progressed to Chartered status.

You'll have CAS and have the energy, confidence and ability to manage a sizeable, HNW client portfolio. Plus a strong track record and steady career history.
