Winfield Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our Hospitality Team (1 x 24 Hours vacancy available).

Winfield hospital is a 39 bedded hospital situated on the outskirts of Gloucester. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities including three operating theatres, a sterile services department, a dedicated endoscopy suite, physiotherapy and an X-ray department with mobile MRI and CT scanner on site. 

We also cater for the Dean Neurological centre which is a 60 bed residential unit.

Shift patterns will vary between Mondays to Sunday from 8am – 7pm with 1 in 2 weekends required.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will be part of a team who ensure the preparation and delivery of a food and beverage service to patients.  

  • As a Catering Assistant you will be responsible for the service of all food and drink to the patients on the wards including managing dietary requirements.

  • Additional tasks will consist of the washing of cutlery, replenishing our hot drinks machines and explaining the daily menus across all meals.

  • You will be part of a team of Catering Assistants who are fundamental in ensuring that all work is carried out in a hygienic and methodical manner and that standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital are in line with our policies.

Who we're looking for

  • Ideally you will be an experienced Catering Assistant from a Healthcare or similar industry with demonstrable experience in a customer facing environment/role.

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience of assisting within a catering setting and you must be able to work on your own initiative

  • Candidates must have a positive and flexible approach to customer service and strong communication skills.
