It is an exciting time to join them, you will be joining a dynamic environment responsible for managing the council’s major categories of expenditure, creating opportunities to improve, leverage and drive the implementation of best practice across your portfolio of spend.

The Role

The Council are looking to recruit an exceptionally talented procurement professional to join their Commercial Hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • As Category Lead, you will lead on the procurement of contracts across Childrens, Adults and Resources Directorate.
  • You will be supported by experienced Commercial Managers with knowledge and experience of contracts across categories of spend within your portfolio.
  • You will combine excellent technical skills with outstanding relationship management that will support delivery of the Council’s Commercial Strategy 2023-2027.
  • In addition to being professionally skilful and commercially astute, you will also need to demonstrate a successful record of partnership working in multi-disciplinary teams, including consultation and negotiation.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Have commercial expertise in complex, large scale and high value public procurement
  • Have experience and be familiar with the use of Frameworks, Dynamic Purchasing Systems and traditional procurement procedures
  • Have detailed understanding of public procurement regulations
  • Have experience of tendering contracts across multiple categories of spend
  • Be MCIPS qualified or have other relevant professional qualifications or alternative experience
  • Champion best procurement practice across the Council
  • Be a confident communicator with proven relationship management skills and customer focus.
