  • Job Type: Full-time, Shift Work
  • Salary:£27,000

We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join our team and contribute to the ethos and well-being of our educational institution. The role is crucial in maintaining the neatness, cleanliness, orderliness, and presentation of our premises, ensuring they are always ready to welcome current and future parents, staff, and pupils. The Caretaker will play a key role in the success of various school events, requiring a high standard of presentation and attention to detail.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Open and secure the buildings, ensuring all evacuation routes and emergency exits are clear.
  • Operate security alarms and respond to call-outs as a key holder.
  • Maintain site security, supervise access points, and verify visitor identities.
  • Operate fire alarms and perform duties during drills and evacuations.
  • Conduct first aid as required.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and redecoration tasks following work schedules.
  • Prepare for school events, ensuring the site is clean and well-presented.
  • Oversee approved lets, ensuring they follow security arrangements.
  • Keep school areas tidy, including external and internal spaces.
  • Liaise with contractors and visitors, possibly escorting them around the site.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries, keeping reception areas clear.
  • Wear a standard uniform and deliver internal mail and packages.
  • Cover shifts and duties in the absence of other caretaking staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with attention to detail.
  • Professional manner with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and remain reliable.
  • Physically fit to manage tasks that include lifting and carrying.
  • Full driving licence is desirable.
