This is an exciting opportunity to the Calculation Delivery Team in the heart of Service Delivery/ Admin Outsourcing GB as a Specialist and Technical Lead.

This role can be fully remote or hybrid with a base office location of Redhill, Surrey. 

The Calculation Delivery Technical Lead will be responsible for the function’s overall management and delivery, reporting into the Head of Calculation Delivery, and will work alongside the Calc Leadership team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and quality delivery to the internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for organising and facilitating the Calc ANA and DEV’s and SM’s delivering and maintaining our calculations for our clients.

The Role

The role will suit an experienced team and people manager, and an individual who can manage the demands of senior stakeholders across the OGB business. The individual will need to be from the pensions industry, ideally with a background in systems, and a deep understanding of project management methodology. A delivery expert who is seeking a career path which can utilise both strong technical pension or insurance/financial services skills (including a broad understanding of the challenges of delivering end-to-end automation) and strong leadership skills, in particular the ability to lead a team through projects/business change. 

Whilst you will have the ability to be technical and hands-on capable in some or all of these areas, you will be responsible and accountable for the overall client servicing of Calculation and Letters, with the ability to co-ordinate with other departmental leaders to ensure a consistent approach for end-to-end calculation automation, both development and deployment. 

Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required to assist and up- skill your function to deliver effective solutions.

You must have a proven management background, experience in team leadership and in the delivery of projects. You will be joining a team of diverse skills and experience, and the job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results, on both generic level as well as client specific projects.

Key accountabilities include:

Function Responsibility
  • Facilitate the delivery management for the Calc and Letter changes, improvements & client servicing work including scheme events
  • Triaging new and inflight work, including managing prioritization 
  • Coordinating Discovery work and estimation including Calc Council
  • Reviewing Calc dependencies alongside other Leads including deployment options
  • Incident Bridge Management of Calc work
  • Input into the Strategic roadmap/tech approach
  • Involvement in innovation and best practice work
  • Planning and look ahead with resource allocation and management
  • Representing Calc Delivery in major forums/ senior stakeholder meetings
  • Assist in Revenue identification and reporting for non BCB projects
  • Predict, plan and manage discovery, planning, maintenance and change work alongside the other Leads


Delivering key business objectives
  • Build relationships with stakeholders
  • Participate in resource allocation to ensure the right level of support is provided to deliver on key business objectives
  • Act as a point of escalation to the function to resolve the most complex and non-standard issues
  • Work with the Scrum Masters and Project Managers for best practice within the Calc Delivery Function
  • Very strong background in successful delivery, and ‘end to end vision’ to own delivery of the full client needs
  • Background in UK occupational pensions or financial or insurance services
  • In depth understanding of the calculation and letters function and ways of working
  • Knowledge of and experience of working with DB calculations and technical/ technology teams
  • Experience of people management and the ability to lead, influence and collaborate with others
  • Skilled at working with stakeholders to drive decision points and resolutions
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work well within ambiguity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail orientated, strong analytical thinker, capable of making key decisions based on solid research and knowledge of the industry
  • Strong ability to think through problems and implement solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work on virtual teams
  • Process driven with ability to modify approach
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor or as part of a broader team
  • BSc / BA degree or relevant experience 
  • Experience establishing standards and procedures and advocate best practices
