JOB- CAD Engineer

LOCATION- Reading   

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs, manufactures and installs specialist products. They are looking to take on a CAD Engineer/Junior Design Engineer on a permanent basis near Reading.

The CAD Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • 0-2 years’ experience in a similar CAD Operation / Design Engineering / Mechanical Engineering position
  • Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.
  • Any previous experience of working with a variety of materials and manufacturing processes would be beneficial
  • Have a positive outlook and keen willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
  • Have a full UK Driving Licence and access to a car


The CAD Engineer role will involve:

  • Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
  • Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers
  • Being involved in final assembly of products
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
