We are seeking a Buyer to join our team, ensuring that materials and supplies are sourced and delivered in the most cost-effective and timely manner. The role involves supporting the business by providing sound advice on the cost and availability of materials and contributing to project delivery by maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Day to Day of the role:- Support Operations Team in achieving project delivery by ensuring timely delivery of all required materials and supplies.
- Handle disputes and claims with suppliers and process orders for materials and plant.
- Schedule materials, obtain quotations, and source requested materials and plant with a focus on sustainable sourcing.
- Check specifications and site instructions, and confirm items on requisitions from site.
- Maximise profitability while maintaining supply chain relationships and good relations with suppliers.
- Stay informed of market developments and price changes, and communicate relevant information to the business.
- Create and develop a database of suppliers, aiming to eliminate or reduce waste.
- Advise the Commercial and Project team of material spend against budget and suggest improvements to systems or processes to enhance efficiency.
- Negotiate rates with suppliers on framework and handle damage charges for faulty or defective materials.
- Be responsible for and report any environmental issues pertaining to the role and assist project teams as needed.
- Detailed knowledge of construction materials.
- Effective team cooperation and constructive working approach.
- Systematic and organised planning skills, with the ability to plan flexibly but effectively.
- Clear and confident written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen and understand others.
