The Role - Business Development Officer

Location - West of Scotland
(travel throughout the West of Scotland)

Salary - £32,774 + commission & car allowance

Hours - Full-time - Monday to Friday (34.5 hours)

We are recruiting for a Business Development Officer to cover the West of Scotland. The position will play an active role in the growth of the organisation by developing new memberships and continuing to provide an excellent service to existing members.

The role is predominately home based but you will be required to attend meetings at the client's head office in Edinburgh and you will travel to prospective and existing clients all over the West of Scotland.

The role is a healthy mix of recruiting new clients (60%) and retaining existing clients (40%). The ideal candidate will be a confident sales professional who enjoys the challenge of researching new areas for business development and takes pride in the service they are selling.

Due to the nature of the role, we will only be short listing candidates with a full clean driving license who are based in central location i.e. Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Stirling or Renfrewshire.

How your day may look -

* Recruit new members to the organisation.
* Active business development within the sector.
* Working with the Marketing team to identify new areas of potential growth.
* Develop relationships with existing members & implement retention strategies.
* Focus on reducing member attrition by effectively applying these strategies while providing input and feedback for their continuous improvement and adaptation.
* Working alongside the wider team to ensure cohesive and effective messaging and brand representations in all business development activities.
* Representing the organisation at industry events
* Effectively manage and address member issues, constructively channelling concerns to relevant departments.
* Actively work to meet or exceed the agreed target for member recruitment in your designated regions.

Essential Experience, Skills, Attributes Required

* Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, preferably within a membership-based organisation.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with members and potential members, emphasising a deep understanding of their needs and objectives.
* High level organisational and time management skills.
* Must have a positive character.
* Able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experienced with Microsoft Office: Word/Excel/Outlook
* Good interpersonal and presentation skill
* Full clean driving license
