Business Development Manager
Job title: Business Development Manager (Insurance Underwriting)
Salary: to £55,000
Location: Home based, Scotland
Purpose of the role:
- Develop relationships with new and existing brokers.
- Undertake reviews to identify areas for improvement and agree actions to optimise profitability.
- Offer advice on various classes of commercial insurance risks including property, liabilities, motor, etc.
- Plan, forecast and targets to achieve the strategic business plan.
- Liase closely with management and company underwriters.
- Identify new business and sales opportunities.
- Attend network events.
- Seeking broker and market feedback.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a commercial insurance sales environment.
- Strong relationships within Scottish broker sector.
- Technical underwriting knowledge - SME/mid size risks - commercial property, EL, PL, motor, business interruption, etc.
- Proven track record of working to sales targets.
- Understand general and legal principles of insurance.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Understand the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks.
- Customer focused approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and use initiative.
- Able to work flexibly to achieve tight deadlines/targets with good organisation skills.
- Computer literate.
- Acturis experience would be beneficial.
- CII qualifications would be advantageous.
- The ability to manage own diary and workload whilst working to tight deadlines with accuracy.
