ROLE – Business Development Manager

SALARY - £40,000- £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

TYPE - Permanent

LOCATION – Surrey (Hybrid/Remote working is available)

My client manufactures specialist equipment for a variety of industries. They are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team in the Surrey area on a permanent basis.

The Business Development Manager will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Be an experienced Sales / Business Development Manager or Sales Representative looking to further their career into Management
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Have a background in Engineering, and be happy to get their hands dirty sometimes
  • Able to understand technical drawings
  • A background in Rail, Aviation, Automotive or similar industries would be beneficial
  • Be computer literate; proficient with using Microsoft Office and ERP software ideally
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Have strong customer relationship building skills
  • Have a great commercial awareness
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Be able to organise your own workload
  • Be able to travel overseas on occasion as required


The Business Development Manager role will involve:

  • To support increasing demand by overseeing development and expansion
  • Promoting the product range
  • Researching and developing sales opportunities
  • Identifying and targeting new potential customers, executives, engineers and designers
  • Developing relationships and promoting the company’s product range and design capability to increase sales
  • Putting in place new sales plans
  • Supporting the whole business strategy
  • Always providing excellent customer service
  • Be involved in maintaining and also improving all client relationships
  • Staying current with market sector trends as required
  • Working with the marketing team to improve brand recognition and to reach more people
