As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team and drive growth in our sea freight division.

Job Description:

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities within the sea freight sector as a priority (you will be able to cover other modes also). The successful candidate will develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand our customer base, increase revenue, and achieve sales targets. This role requires a strong understanding of the sea freight industry, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of sales success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive growth in the sea freight division.
  • Identify and prospect potential customers through market research, networking, and lead generation activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure seamless execution of customer shipments and timely resolution of any issues.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations and proposals to key decision-makers, highlighting the benefits of our sea freight services.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, reports, and updates to management, highlighting progress towards sales targets and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our services and build brand awareness.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on best practices in sales and logistics.

    Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in sales within the freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong knowledge of sea freight operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
