The opportunity!

The Principal Engineer - Building Services Engineering will be responsible for the preparation of the estate major maintenance and lifecycle plan budgets, advising on the condition of the companies estate and carrying out an ongoing detailed assessment of the condition of the mechanical, electrical & plumbing services. Working alongside the FM site operations managers to prioritise works taking into account business objectives and plans for the buildings, age of the buildings and degree of confidence in the condition of the asset. The Principal Engineer - Building Services Engineering will own the move towards a proactive approach to asset management in line with the principles of ISO55001.

The Principal Engineer - Building Services Engineering shall play a key role in representing the FM Operations team as the ultimate recipient of any new installations. Coming from a strong MEP design background, The Principal Engineer shall assume ownership of the suite of the companies Building Design Guides and shall be responsible for review and updating on a periodic basis; engaging with domain experts where required and ensuring that the requirement for standardised engineering solutions are incorporated into the companies estate at project conception. The Principal Engineer - Building Services Engineering shall review and assess proposed deviations from the design guides.

What we're looking for from you!

    • Bachelor's degree in Building Services Engineering or proven experience
    • CEng and Member of CIBSE would be desirable
    • Experience in the preparation of scope of works and performance specifications for planned maintenance and Capital works packages.
    • Experienced in the assessment and implementation of energy efficient solutions and standard processes.
    • Experienced in assessing M&E asset condition and preparing planned maintenance programmes and the associated financial planning of 5 year maintenance budgets.
    • Familiar with the asset management principles of ISO550001.
    • Experienced in providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
    • Willingness to act as Senior Authorising Person with responsibility for the Mechanical Safety Rules

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working - such as working on site around 2-3 days per week depending on business needs, and frequent travel to all sites across the UK
