Our client is a commercial Insurance Broker based in Colchester who pride themselves on providing their clients a first-class bespoke service. With a forward-thinking, consultative approach to insurance broking, they are looking for a detail orientated, proactive individual to join them as a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant.

This is a new opportunity for a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to bring their expertise to this growing business. You will be responsible for a variety of accounts duties, whilst also providing monthly finance reports, working closely with an outsourced accountancy practice. This is an all-encompassing role requiring experience and offering flexibility.

£25-30k DOE (pro rata) | Colchester | 16-20 hours per week across Mon-Fri 9-5 | Hybrid/Flexible working | Free parking, casual dress code | Start-up / growing Insurance Broker | Friendly, vibrant team

Duties (to include but are not limited too):

  • To provide monthly management accounts (including cash flow forecasting, profit and loss reports and budgets)
  • Analyse company purchases and suppliers to ensure best rates/costs are agreed
  • Running debtor reports and proactively chasing outstanding invoices (credit control)
  • Liaise with external accountancy practice to ensure tax efficiency
  • Carrying out payment runs to clients on approval from management
  • Calculating commission payments for staff to be sent onto external payroll company
  • Other duties will include; bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, month end support and invoicing external clients

Person Specification:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position essential
  • Experience providing monthly management accounts reports preferred
  • Quickbooks / Xero / Acturis experience preferred
  • Confident, personable team-player
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, growing dynamic business
  • Excellent organisational skills
