Job Overview:

We are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team. As a Behaviour Support Assistant you will work closely with individuals with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Your role will involve providing support, communication, and assistance to help them thrive in their daily activities.

Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant

  • Provide support and assistance to individuals with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and their families to understand their specific needs and goals
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to learn and grow
  • Provide care and support for toddlers and children with special needs
  • Educate individuals on daily living skills, social skills, and behavior management techniques
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals to develop and implement individualized plans
  • Monitor progress and document observations to track individual's development

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members
  • Knowledge of toddler care and early childhood development
  • Ability to educate and support individuals in various settings
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding towards individuals with special needs
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors
