Where you will be working

Location: Dunnock View, Tendring, Clacton-on-Sea, CO16 0BX

Be part of a new team at this 42-bed service, providing treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental health disorders.

A trauma-informed care model is used to focus on length of stay to make sure individuals are able to move as quickly and safely as possible from the service to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.

Service users could be suffering from Acute mental illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Dual diagnosis, Self-harm, Substance misuse issues.

The RMOs will need to live within a 1 hour radius of the Hospital.

Hours per week: 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sundays, totalling 128 hours per week. This will alternate with the existing RMOs, based on the out of hours medical team arrangements. Therefore, the doctor will be working one in every 4 weekends.

As this is a Bank position, the post holder will not be contractually obliged to complete all these hours, however advance notice will be required for a change in the rota. This role requires a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication, therefore cover should be actively sourced within the medical team.

Annual leave and sick pay will form part of the hourly rate however mileage will be paid once claims have been made in a timely manner through Elysium’s transport app.

Our RMO Doctor role involves:

  • Delivering a high quality clinical service to patients.
  • Working closely with the unit’s multi-disciplinary team, including the On Call Consultant, to ensure that patients receive a holistic and person-centred treatment programme based on the recovery model.
  • Ensuring an adequate handover to colleagues.
  • Reviewing the mental state and physical health of patients as per the hospital procedure.
  • Ensuring that each patient has a full physical health screen upon admission including physical examination, and ECG and blood tests where needed, including clerking in and completion of relevant documentation.
  • Attending seclusion reviews and incidents that have been escalate by the Nursing Team/On-Call Managers within a 1 hour timeframe,
  • Taking a lead with managing any physical health concerns that emerge during inpatient stay.
  • Seeking collateral history from other professionals and family.
  • Completing admission assessments in a timely manner.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients have access to appropriate medical treatment at all times, including referral to the local A&E Department if required.
  • Attendance at monthly clinical and managerial supervision sessions.

To be successful as a Bank RMO Doctor, you’ll need:

  • Full GMC registration (essential)
  • Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams (essential).
  • To have had an appraisal/RITA within the last year (essential)
  • At least 1 year’s experience in Psychiatry (essential)
  • Experience working as a doctor within a PICU/Secure services (desirable)
