BAND 8D Blood Sciences BMS - Hereford

My client based in Hereford is looking for a Band 8DBiomedical Scientist, in Blood Sciences for a locum contract starting as soon as possible.

The Role:

• Job Title: Biomedical Scientist
• Band: 8D
• Division: Blood Sciences
• Location: Wye Valley Hospital
• Start Date: 6 - 12 Months
• Working Pattern: 5 hrs/week
• Shift Pattern: Core Hours
• As Head of Blood Sciences, the post holder will be responsible for the daily operational management of the Blood Sciences Department, working with the Blood Sciences Manager and section leads, Specialty Clinical Leads, Clinical Directors, General Managers and Heads of Department to deliver high quality, safe, responsive and cost-effective services.

Requirements:

• HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
• UK Lab Experience
• To have developed sufficient skills and experience sufficient to lead a comprehensive Blood Sciences Service at consultant level.
• Experience in the development and delivery of services relating to a sub-specialty interest.
• Leadership experience that would be transferable to a leadership role in Wye Valley.
• Thorough understanding of principles of audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit in the last 2 years.
• An understanding of the general principles of scientific method and interpretation of literature and data.
• Commitment to teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduates and evidence of active participation in teaching.
• An understanding of NHS organisation and operation nationally, regionally, and locally. A commitment to Pathology collaboration in the context of the proposed STP-based networks.
• An understanding of the concepts and principles of clinical governance.
• Computer literacy.
• Awareness of the issues affecting current and future NHS practice.
• Understanding and experience of budget management and financial issues
