Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Assistant Operations Manager to join our Elmbridge Borough Council account in Esher.  

Salary: £38,628 + Overtime rate x1.5

Hours: 40 per week, varied shifts from 5:30 – 16:00, Monday – Friday 

Location: Amey Esher Depot, KT10 8AS

Amey has been delivering Waste Collection services to four Boroughs within Surrey and Street Cleansing Services to three Boroughs of Surrey since 2017. Our dedicated teams perform kerbside collections of refuse, recycling, food waste, and garden waste to approximately 400,000 properties. The Street Cleaning team handles rapid response cleaning services, routine road sweeping, and litter picking in Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath, and Woking.

As an Assistant Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Site Manager to lead exceptional Waste Collection services, prioritise Health & Safety standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for

  • Operations: Allocate resources to maximise efficiency
  • Delivery: Make sure that SLA’s are met and service issues resolved. 
  • Health & Safety: Champion and enforce compliance with Health & Safety through routine checks and toolbox talks. 
  • People Management: Set objectives, conduct inductions, and forecast staffing requirements. 
  • Client Relationship: Proactively engage clients, address complaints promptly, and foster effective communication. 
  • General Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and deputize for the Site Manager as needed. 

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Operational Skills: Demonstrated management expertise in a multi-shift setting with a strong grasp of managing People and Fleet
  • Local Insights: Sound geographical knowledge. 
  • License and Training: Full clean driving license with HGV Class 2 entitlement, CPC, and tacho cards or willingness to acquire these certifications. Commitment to ongoing career development, including certifications like First Aid at Work and Manual Handling.
