Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Bristol

Our Client are are expanding, and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their dynamic Management Accounting team. This role offers comprehensive on-the-job training, allowing you to develop your skills in management accounting within a supportive finance team. External study support will further enhance your professional growth.

This position is ideal for individuals embarking on a finance career, providing a diverse range of responsibilities related to the nominal ledger while offering support to other members of the broader finance team. Key responsibilities include:

Management Accounts:

  • Aid in producing monthly Management Accounts for the LLP’s Support functions, involving posting journals, analyzing variances against budget/forecasts, and sending monthly reports to Support teams.
  • Complete and reconcile balance sheet accounts, taking ownership of related queries, including prepayments, sundry sales ledger debtors, fixed asset register, petty cash, and loan balances.
  • Maintain the sundry sales ledger by raising adhoc invoices and ensuring timely payment.
  • Analyze data and identify trends for periodic forecasting and annual budgeting.
  • Assist in the annual financial audit, providing requested information and preparing tax analysis for external auditors.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries or information requests.

Treasury:

  • Prepare daily cashflow reports, summarizing client receipts and payments, and post relevant bank items.
  • Handle payment and posting of Partner-related payments and costs, such as drawings, profit distributions, personal loans, and tax payments.
  • Set up and review regular and ad hoc payments, including online banking system setup or review by another team member.

Other:

  • Assist in producing quarterly VAT returns, annual PSA returns, and periodic ONS surveys.
  • Collaborate with Support teams and Accounts Payable team to ensure correct coding of costs and compliance with relevant tax legislation.
  • Raise Purchase Orders for Finance and Management team items and review the log of open POs.
  • Identify and collaborate with the Finance Manager and Financial Controller to implement process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Honours degree (first class or 2:1) in a numerate subject or equivalent.
  • A Levels or equivalent vocational study.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and escalate issues when needed.
  • Proactive approach to new tasks.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with tasks.
