Our client is currently in search of an Assistant General Ledger Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis. This fully remote role supports the finance team in the Dubai Office and offers an hourly rate of £16.

The ideal candidate will ensure the prompt and precise production of Management Accounts by completing assigned tasks on time. This involves generating balance sheet reconciliations within strict deadlines and promptly addressing reconciling items while updating standing journals.

Applicants should be prepared to work as closely as possible to UAE time (BST + 3 hours).

Responsibilities of the Assistant General Ledger Accountant will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Complete assigned duties as part of month-end closing processes, including:
  • Preparation and entry of cashbook journals
  • Preparation and entry of designated month-end journals
  • Management of petty cash and expenses
  • Oversight of staff corporate credit card usage and processing of expense claims
  • Monthly reconciliation of Intercompany accounts and confirmation of closing balances
  • Compilation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of Quarterly VAT returns for UAE & KSA
  • Handling queries and data requests from internal and external audit, and tax departments
  • Providing coverage for tasks of absent team members during holidays
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement efforts by identifying suggestions and opportunities
  • Ensuring the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Notes for all activities, and actively contributing to efficiency and control enhancements
  • Sharing and seeking out best practices
  • Performing various other ad-hoc accounting duties as necessary

The successful Assistant General Ledger Accountant will require the following skills and experience:

  • Actively pursuing Part Qualified status with ICAEW, CIMA, or ACCA
  • Proficient in various finance department tasks
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Self-driven and able to work independently
  • Previous experience in the Exhibition and Events Industry
  • Strong computer skills, with a particular focus on Excel
  • Proficiency in SAGE 1000 or SAGE X3 is preferred
