Assistant Financial Controller (Fixed Asset)

Overview

Nomad Foods was formed in 2015 and with revenues of €2.6bn is the largest frozen food company in Europe. Nomad owns a portfolio of leading brands including Birds Eye, Findus and iglo, supplemented in 2018 with the purchase of Goodfellas Pizza and Aunt Bessie’s, and in 2021 with the purchase of Ledo and Frikom.

We manufacture and distribute a range of branded frozen food products across 22 European countries with the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Sweden and France representing our five largest markets.

We are proposing that our new Shared Finance Centre will house both our Financial Accounting teams and our Financial Planning and Analysis Centre of Expertise.

The rolewill be a key individual within the Financial Accounting & Reporting team and will assist with the statutory requirements, Group Reporting requirements and will assist with the running of a smooth month end close.

Responsibilities

• Support Financial Controller and local business in correct disclosure of assets and adherence to Group accounting policies, local GAAP and tax compliance
• Perform month-end activities including journal posting, balance sheet reconciliations and reviews
• Record thecostof acquiredfixed assets(both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recordingdepreciationand accounting fixed asset disposals.Maintain compliance with applicable SOX controls
• Support local finance team in fixed assets analysis and assessing assets obsolescence
• Assist in preparation of local audits
• Assist in preparation of Corporation Tax returns
• Assist in the compilation of VAT reporting
• Ad hoc support/ project work to the wider Finance team

Qualifications

Essential

• Studying for CIMA/ACCA/ACA - part qualified
• > 1 years experience in working within a financial accounting team
• Computer skills including the ability to operate. MS Office at advanced level
• Strong focus on business controls application
• Confident with strong communication skills and ability to articulate findings to stakeholders in written and oral forms
• Excellent organisation and planning skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• A self-starter. Able to use initiative and work proactively
• Work alone as well as part of a team
• Keen flexible attitude

Desirable

• SAP experience
• Worked effectively within a large, multi-site and complex business
• Fixed asset accounting
• IFRS 16 working knowledge
• SOX experience
