Our client is a Main Contractor based out of Hull, with a number of projects and schemes across Yorkshire. They are looking to add to their Estimating team by bringing in an Assistant Estimator to help push forward their success in the New Year.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Estimation Support: Assist senior estimators in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for upcoming projects. This includes gathering necessary data, performing quantity take-offs, and analysing subcontractor quotes.

  • Bid Preparation: Collaborate with the bidding team to compile comprehensive bid packages. This involves organising project documents, reviewing specifications, and ensuring all requirements are met.

  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis for materials, labour, and equipment to determine project expenses. Utilise historical data and industry benchmarks to enhance accuracy.

  • Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and quotes. Maintain strong relationships to secure favorable terms and competitive rates.

  • Documentation Management: Assist in organising and maintaining project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications. Ensure all relevant information is accurately recorded and readily accessible.

  • Tender Submissions: Support the preparation and submission of tender documents within specified deadlines. Verify compliance with client requirements and address any inquiries or clarifications.

  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless transition from estimation to execution phase. Provide ongoing support as needed to address cost-related issues and adjustments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in a similar role within the construction industry is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in estimating software such as CostX, ConQuest, or similar programs.

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

  • Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
