I am working with Newham 6th Form College (NewVIC) to find them an experienced exam specialist.

NewVIc is one of London's largest sixth form colleges based in Newham (E13 8SG).

Currently graded 'Good' by Ofsted, NewVIc celebrated its highest ever A-level pass rate of 98% and sends more students from disadvantaged backgrounds to university than any other sixth form in England.

The college has been through a period of change and they're looking for a strong leader to motivate and develop the Exams and Registry Team whilst also playing a hands-on role in managing the processes including regulatory compliance.

This would suit an experienced manager from an FE environment ready to make a big impact in an ambitious sixth form college.

Important Details:

  • Salary is £59,718 to £63,323.
  • All year round.
  • 36 hours a week approximately 08:00 - 16:00 Mon to Fri.
  • The role is fully on-site.
  • Address is Prince Regent Lane, London, E13 8SG
  • Closest underground is Plaistow, zone 3.

Duties of the Assistant Director of Exams and Registry:

  • Collaborate with fellow managers to uphold service excellence.
  • Spearhead Electronic Data Interchange initiatives within the department.
  • Liaise with academic departments for optimal resource and room allocation.
  • Oversee all examination boards, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to deadlines.
  • Safeguard student data integrity across Management Information Systems.
  • Manage continuous professional development for Exams and Registry teams.
  • Ensure precise data input throughout the Examinations function.
  • Conduct integrity checks for received and inputted data.
  • Aid in information dissemination, both electronically and in print.
  • Accurately collect and input student and exam-related data.
  • Assist in developing and implementing administrative systems.
  • Manage various exam-related activities and budget responsibilities.
  • Process and distribute learner results efficiently.
  • Stay updated on exam board regulations and college policies.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and invigilators.
  • Drive procedural enhancements and support stakeholders professionally.
  • Lead teams to accurately record achievement data in the ILR.
  • Stay current with JCQ ICE regulations and ensure compliance.


The Assistant Director of Exams and Registry Must Have/Be:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent.
  • A degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Windows packages like Microsoft Office and Google services.
  • Skilled in handling examination data and creating entries.
  • Familiarity with Student Record Systems.
  • Knowledgeable about the Prosolutions Examinations module.
  • Understanding of Electronic Data Interchange systems.
  • Familiarity with JCQ requirements and regulations for examinations.
  • Capable of working under pressure with high accuracy.
  • Organised approach to work, meeting targets and agreements.
  • Effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring of own work.
  • Experienced in managing diverse teams, especially in further education.
  • Proficient in using Prosolution for end-to-end examination management.
  • Skilled in planning and managing large examinations, including rooming and invigilation.
  • Committed to NewVIc's mission, values, and college development.

An Advantage but not Essential:

  • A Management qualification.
  • Experience of managing Projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using Prosuite.
